During the Film era, photography was considered a special hobby or one of the expensive hobbies because of all the things you need before you can produces images, but now this hobby is become more popular and not considered as special (but still expensive hobby) because of the new technology called digital.
I write this article because a friend of mine called me one day because he saw a DSLR camera with a low tag price on it. He ask me what he can do in that DSLR camera he has no idea to used it but very curious to have it since he saw many people using it now a days. Then I told him what he need to considered in buying a Digital Camera most especially Digital SLR.
Things to consider in buying a Digital Camera / Digital SLR camera:
How much is your budget?
Digital cameras come in all price ranges. Pick one that suits your needs and your budget.
Camera Band it also depends on your budget.
Where are you going to use it?
Do not buy or purchase a camera because it is on sale. It is not a toy although you will definitely have fun using it once you learn how.
Are you comfortable to use it?
Pick a camera hold it and try it. You will be able tell immediately whether the camera “feels right.” If it feels awkward or hard to hold, then put it down and consider one that feels comfortable, regardless of its specifications.
Other things to consider are the following: DIGITAL CAMERAS – KEY FEATURES
Number of megapixels – Short for Picture Element, a pixel is a single point in a graphic image. Graphics monitors display pictures by dividing the display screen into thousands (or millions) of pixels, arranged in rows and columns. The pixels are so close together that they appear connected. Pixel is generally thought of as the smallest single component of a digital image.
Storage / Memory Card – there are several forms of digital storage media cards to choose from. If this is your first camera, read the article on digital storage media and choose a camera that uses one that is readily available, be careful you are not buying a camera that uses a card that will be discontinued shortly.
Zoom Quality – in compact digital camera there are optical and digital zoom, optical zoom is physically changes the distance between the lens and image sensor to get more closed up to your subject, while digital zoom is simply takes the same image and enlarges a central section to make it fill the same area, so you lose resolution.
Lens – it is the most important part of the camera, it is considered the eye of the camera from where the subject is focused, a light pass through and recorded into a film or censor to become an image. Without this, you cannot capture perfect picture.
Some more to consider are white balance modes should be with a manual setting mode. Compact cameras should be having an in-built flash and exposure settings. The ISO settings should vary from 100- 1,600 or higher. The camera should have color saturation, brightness and contrast settings. The in-built memory should support higher memory flash cards and the images should be capable of being stored as JPEG, RAW or TIFF format.
