I’m lucky since it was David Hobby whom I assisted during this workshop. I said lucky because I learned a lot during my time with David and also to all photo enthusiasts who attended the workshop… I my five days working together with Him I gain a lot more specially in composing my subject, creating more dramatic background in a very easiest way and controlling my light even under the sun using just a speedlight/flashguns and reflectors.

Who is David Hobby by the way?

David Hobby founded Strobist.com in 2006, as a way to teach real-world lighting techniques drawing on his twenty years’ experience as a professional photojournalist.

The site has quickly grown to be the largest small-flash lighting resource on the internet. Reaching 200,000 regular readers from over 175 countries, Strobist has changed the way photographers think about their speedlights.
Strobist also has spawned reader-initiated “lighting meetups” in cities all over the world, where photographers get together for an evening of fun, shooting and peer-to-peer education. This collective, group-learning model is changing the way people learn about photography, and is being seen as a new branch on the Web 2.0 tree.

Strobist was the first in a rapidly expanding roster of sites run by professional photographers whose sole purpose is to facilitate the free transfer of knowledge to the next generation of photographers. But other photographers are picking up the ball to run with it in this way on a daily basis. Hobby lives near Washington, D.C., with his wife and two children.
